Is there such a thing as a fair weather car fan?

So at my place of employment, I work with a few car guys. One of which has owned I the time I have known him and daily driven, A corvette & 2 boss 302’s, and is now planning to go get another new corvette!

He’s one of these guys who has to have the best car he can get his hands on. When he does he is loyal to that brand to a fault. During a brief stint between the boss 302 and the corvette he had a Honda Civic. Suddenly Honda was the best brand on god’s green earth. It’s infuriating because when he talks about now how GM is putting magnetic ride suspension on its cars, and for needs to caught up. I mention my V70R has it, and he claims its not that big a deal.

Ugh, is he a fair weather fan boy? What does one call this sort of person?

Ike is co-host of the Untitled Car Show ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ) he has owned 2 Dodge Challengers; a Volvo C30, a V70XC, a V70R, 740; and a Saturn Ion . He is a new father and loves driving and autocrossing. He can jerry rig with the best of them, and he wrote his bio in third person. He also has 2 dogs, 2 cats and is a crazy person some say!

I usually call them “KEY RING FAN BOYS” what ever they have keys for is the best car ever! No matter what they have driven.

I got no problem with him just loving whatever he thinks is the best car out there, but making it seems like all of the cars by that company are suddenly the best is a little...ridiculous.

Yeah and any evidence to the contrary is invalid to him. Ugh frustrating because I enjoy shooting the shit about cars, and he has some nice cars, but oh so frustrating to talk to

That could be a thing. I’d associate it with the guys that spew bullcrap all the time though.

You know them. The guy who swore his brother “special ordered a Chevy Astro with a 350 in it brand new”. Or the guy who had a friend that had an uncle’s cousin that built a 9 second Nova that had a 454 with a 3/4 Race cam and Ford heads. “Because the 351 Cleveland was a direct copy of the Big Block Chevy you know”..

Your coworker just seems like the type that only cares about what he’s driving in conversation.

Look nothing wrong with Honda’s. I’ve owned several of them, and was a diehard fan boy for years. I still own one technically (MDX). How in the world does he go from BOSS 302 to a Civic, and think that was an upgrade in ANY way besides gas mileage?
